THE FESTIVAL TOUS ÉCRANS - MINIMA CINEMA
Workshop with El Ultimo Grito
“Objects of curiosity, the rooms of Minima Cinema were deployed in the heart of cities throughout Switzerland to celebrate the origins of cinema and its nomadic nature, and the ethos of the the Festival Tous Ecrans, dedicated to reaching the greatest number of people possible, cinephiles or simply curious, not forgetting those who would be unable to visit it”.
Minima Cinema distilled the cinematic experience to its minimal expression. The design intentionally disassociated itself from the archetypal to stress the experiential. The spaces were sculpted by the student group offering them the possibility to physically experience and assess their own design decisions and leave their own mark. These modules were then fibre-glassed to weatherproof and reinforce them to withstand a month of festival activities across Switzerland.

« We sit together » est une recherche et une exposition de l’artiste Francis Cape sur les bancs réalisés dans les communautés utopistes des États-Unis.
« We sit together » se concrétise par une recherche sur ces communautés, (l’artiste a même un exemplaire de chaque banc pour en comprendre les subtilités) et une exposition itinérante.
Ancrage du projet au marché Dauphine
- Le marché Dauphine peut être comparé à une communauté avec ses rites, ses acteurs qui ont tous des chemins de vie très particulier…Il défendent une consommation alternative…Ce sont des raconteurs d’histoires…
- Un « new age » s’installe au marché Dauphine : pour la création d’une dynamique et d’une identité, je propose la venue d’une nouvelle aire.
Première manifestation : la fête de la lumière révèle le bâtiment (qui a une structure métal verte) comme grande serre. Ceci mettant en valeur le fait que le marché est fermé (le seul à être complètement abrité) et qu’il y a un microclimat particulier.
Le travail est collectif et individuel à partir d’une position collective.
Le travail collectif consiste à la création d’une communauté fictive, une extrapolation de la communauté du marché Dauphine existante.
Le travail individuel à partir d’une position collective consiste à penser le banc en tant qu’assise à partager, représentant la communauté. Comme dans l’exposition de Francis Cape. Qu’est-ce que l’utopie aujourd’hui ?
